It is a film about ordinary people at an unordinary historical moment. The power of the film resides in its attempt to represent the subjects the way they are and to leave the task of interpretation to the viewers.

Route181: Fragments of A Journey in Palestine- Israel

For more than a year, KHLEIFI and SIVAN have dedicated themselves to producing what they consider a cinematic act of faith: a film co-directed by a Palestinian and by an Israeli. In the summer of 2002, for two long months, they traveled together from the south to the north of their country of birth, traced their trajectory on a map and called it Route 181. This virtual line follows the borders outlined in Resolution 181, which was adopted by the United Nations on Nevember 29th,1947, to partition Palestine into two states.

Shadow

This film follows in the intimate and meticulous aesthetics a woman to open her hesitant umbrella of protection, and when, amidst the dual power of image and sound, a flood of emotion pours unavoidably forth. The power of this piece lies in how the director's watchful camera lens, when it entirely avoids disturbing the dramatic blend of feeling unfolding before it, shows us how a reserved 30-year-old woman can, in an instant, transform into a doted-upon young girl.

Cinévardaphoto-When Photos Trigger Films

"Cin?vardaphoto" comprises Varda's most recent film, Ydessa, the Bears and Etc..., screening alongside two earlier films, "Ulysses" and "Salut les Cubains"! "Ydessa, the Bears and Etc..." began with Varda's visit to an exhibition by artist-collector-curator Ydessa Hendeles. The display of hundreds of old photographs, each of which features a teddy bear, prompted Varda to seek out the artist and examine what lies behind the meticulous accumulation of these very particular historical artifacts. In "Ulysses", Varda revisited her own memories and tose of the subjects.

The White Diamond

A film about the daring adventure of exploring the rainforest canopy with a novel flying device-the Jungle Airship. Airship engineer Dr. Graham DORRINGTON embarks on a trip to the giant Kaieteur Falls in the heart of Guyana, hoping to fly his helium-filled invention above the tree tops. But this logistic effort will not be without risk. Twelve years ago, a similar expedition into the unique habitat of the canopy ended in disaster when Dorrington's friend Dieter PLAGE, a great natural history filmmaker, fell to his death.

Born Without

BORN WITHOUT is a tender and controversial love story between actor and musician Jose Flores, a man born with no arms, and the woman that bore him six children and is expecting another. Jose is often labeled a "beggar" as he travels throughout Mexico playing harmonica to support his family. He also appears in feature films. We learn more and more about him through people from work and who were with him as he grew up.

WHERE THE CONDORS FLY is more than a making-of. It‘s a personal, critical and deeply humorous reflection about filmmaking and its possibilities and limitations. Like a matrouchka doll, it tells the story of a filmmaker making a film about another filmmaker who is himself making a film.

Escaped

At the end of the Second World War, the Dutch woman Lon Verstijnen and the French Christine B?nedite were imprisoned in the concentration camp in Germany. The Nazis decided to ‘empty’ the camps. They forced the prisoners to embark on what has become known as the “death march”. Lon and Christine managed to escape together with seven other women. Lon and Christine are now over 90, yet they will never forget that journey. They have never seen each other since.
