Crime & Punishment

This film follows young policemen's lives on China's North Korean border. As they carry out their duties, they meet up with a motley group of characters. The fierce competition for promotion among these young officers is also captured. Chinese society, in all of its absurdity and pathos, marches onward, but the machinery of the state seems stuck in place.
