Western frontiers of the USSR, 1942. The region is under German occupation, and local partisans are fighting a brutal resistance campaign. A train is derailed not far from the village, Sushenya is arrested with a group of saboteurs, but the German officer decide to set him free. Rumours of Sushenya’s treason spread quickly, and partisans arrive from the forest to get revenge. Deep in an ancient forest, he is forced to make a moral choice under immoral circumstances.

It was filmed in rural Russia. It shows a small village, where all young people are gone and only older people are left. There is shortage of basic material necessities, but at the same time they are in possession of the simple, but most important core values and elements of life: their Village, Time, Friends and Family, Children, Wedding, Happiness, Death, Sun, Winter, and Love.

REVUE illustrates industry and agriculture, political life, popular culture, and technology. The film’s fascinating flow of disparate scenes representing typical Soviet life of the period is, seen from today’s perspective, alternately poignant, funny, and tragic. REVUE is both a nostalgic and instructive look back at a communist past that represents social engineering on a grand, and frightening, scale.

This film depicts one day of an operating fabric. It consists of two parts: the first one is called Steel, the second Plaster. This film is about a human being as a part of human world. Metal produced by people enslaves them and reduce their lives to pure reflexes

In ARTEL, we follow a group of small black silhouettes on a wide white landscape with a couple of log cabins. Beneath the snow and ice they are walking on, fish are swimming. In any case, the men spend time dealing with fishing nets. If they did not use a chainsaw to make a hole in the ice, the film could just as well have been made 80 years ago. The documentary seems to say that life by the sea has always looked like this and it always will.
