Woman See Lot of Things

This film is an experimental documentary about three female ex-child combatants who were participants in the Liberian and Sierra Leonean civil wars of the 1990s. During these decade-long civil wars, numerous girls were abducted, raped and forcibly recruited. Others volunteered in order to find protection. They were used as fighters, sex-slaves and labourers by all parties to the conflicts...

Stroke

Katarina Peters loves Boris so much that when he had a STROKE her love and devotion was the main cure, turning to art as a means of survival. Through a series of impressionistic dream sequences, Peters recreates her tortured state of mind. Wildly cinematic, Stroke is an emotional tour de force. Elegy to love and creativity.

Still Life

Within an image, another one is always hiding. Using only archive footage and without words, Still Life aims to rediscover and delve into the opacity of images made during the 48 years (1926-1974) of Portuguese dictatorship (news, war footage, propaganda documentaries, photos of political prisoners and also previously never seen rushes) in order to foster new interpretations.

SHONENKO

An one-hour documentary, Shonenko reveals the unknown stories of Taiwanese child laborers, who built fighter planes in the Japanese naval arsenals during the Second World War. They left their families, homelands and childhood with the dream of receiving an education. But their dream was to be shattered – first by the war and again by cruel post-war politics in Taiwan, Japan and China.

Mother For Life

Mother for Life is a documentary about an extended family of three generations, followed for three decades. The social climb of a homeless family beginning in the 1970`s was only possible due to the binding power of “general mama”. Her motto “one for all and all for one” held and bound the family together. Still, things are not what they used to be. The family’s strength is weakening, mama is dying…

Moskatchka

Using tableau-like takes of different places of the Muscovite suburb (Moskatchka), the poor quarter of the Latvian capital Riga, the film shows fragments of the choreography of life and combines them to form a picture of reality. Without making any comments, the camera observes the people’s behaviour. Moskatchka is a sacral, poetic act of documentation which succeeds in grasping life in its shocking simplicity and continual fleetingness.
