The film features actor Wojciech Krolikiewicz, who suffers from Huntington’s chorea. As brain cells die, patients lose control over their movements and emotions, their memory begins to suffer, and they have difficulty making decisions. Rendez-vous is the record of a patient’s daily struggles, where even the most trivial activities become a huge challenge.

Żmijewski decided to persuade a former World War II concentration camp prisoner, a 92-year-old Jozef Tarnawa, to ‘renew’ his prisoner number, tattooed on the man’s forearm. In the memory of Tarnawa, the condition for survival necessitated by the extremely oppressive and restrictive environment was extreme conformity. And in the film such an act of conformism consent and subordination is repeated.

The film features soldiers from the Polish Army’s Honour Guard unit, whom Żmijewski had persuaded to recreate the ceremonial drill ritual in front of the camera. Żmijewski said of this project, ‘It’s a musical and a masquerade, but also a serious story about the defenseless body hidden under the uniform. A tender film about men.

Lisa, a German girl that Żmijewski met in Tel Aviv, felt that in a former life she was a Jewish boy, murdered at the age of 12 shot through the head by Nazis. To this day she feels a pain in the place where the bullet entered. Jerusalem gives her strength and happiness; but she also feels lonely there...
