Let It Be

Synopsis

This is a documentary about one of Twaiwan's biggest rice granaries, and about the labor and lives of three old rice farmers from Houbi Village, in southern Taiwan's Tainan County. The diet of Taiwan is centered on rice, yet Taiwanese rice production still exceeds market demands. But do we really understand how impressive this level of achivement is? Every drop of sweat and every grain of rice that have taken these farmers through their half-century of hard work can reveal to us the wisdom of life. Through their labor we can understand the interwoven coexistence of humans, animals, spirits, heaven and the earth. Between the vastness of heaven and earth, between the joy and sorrow of human life, they have found their own fulfillment.
