Shattered Dreams

Synopsis

There are more than 150,000 migrant workers working legally in Taiwan, among whom more than half are from Thailand. To these migrant workers, working abroad in Taiwan is a risky gamble that the northeast Thai workers in this film weren't lucky enough to win. The electronics factory they'd been working in was suddenly closed down. The owner of the factory refused to pay the workers' salaries. The Thai workers were eventually deported back to Thailand after a futile fight, joined by other migrant and domestic workers, for their rights. Their dreams of a better life were shattered. Some of them were deeply in debt. This film offers an insight into the minds and hearts of Thai migrant workers and their families.
