Synopsis

Relying on 671 questionnaires and many interviews with people born between 1980 and 1985, this film presents a situation that has thrown the director into a state of doubt and chaotic change, leading her to recognize her own ignorance of historical, political, and social issues. Why is national identity-a ubiquitous question among older generations-a non-issue to the young? The director hoped to find an answer. Taiwan is pulled in three directions by Taiwanese, Chinese, and Western influences, leading to contradictions in national, ethnic, and political identity. We talk about establishing a just and rightful Taiwan, but we don't even know what our country is really like. What's China? What's Taiwan? What's the mainland? The director gradually understands that these questions make the issue yet more complicated.
