The Last Sephardic Jew

Synopsis

A young rabbi from Sarajevo who teaches Sephardic Spanish in Jerusalem undertakes a journey that will take him back into history. Starting in Israel, he revisits- reversing their chronological order- the landmarks of the Diaspora that followed the expulsion of the Jews from the land the Bible calls "Sepharad". His trip takes him from Thessaloniki, through Sarajevo and Istanbul, to Toledo, his spiritual capital. There, he asks himself, once more, the question that has always haunted him: Why, in the year 1492, did Spain decide to bring to an end its multi-religious and multi-cultural reality?
