Baerlin: The Symphony of a Great City

Synopsis

Ruttmann wanted create a symphony of a great city using patterns of movement. The film shows how the city wakes up in the morning, how the streets are the first deserted and are gradually filled with people going to work, at first singly and then in larger and larger crowds. The description continues through the day from the time typewriters are uncovered and machines begun, to the later evening when people are out enjoying themselves.
