Caught in the Act

Synopsis

Caught in the Act records the daily acts of admission and interviewing of detainees at the police station. As if on an assembly line, the detainees and enter one after the other, telling the policeman their story, with the intimacy of a "closed door" proceeding. The cold, mechanical, automatic manner of the police clerks neutralize feeling. The director provides a sharp human mosaic of Parisians on the periphery of society. These are people whose life has led them to commit petty offenses, perhaps out of desperation, lack of choice, as a plea for attention or a call for help.
